By Steven B., Founder & CEO, Mobile Billboard Global · Updated · 5 min read

Quick answerMobile billboard advertising with Mobile Billboard Global starts at about $150 per hour, and a standard 8-hour day with one LED truck runs about $1,400. In New York, expect $150–$200 per hour ($1,200–$1,500 for 8 hours). Across the U.S., published industry ranges run roughly $800–$2,400 per day for static trucks and $1,200–$3,600 per day for LED trucks, with premium event days higher.
Key takeaways
  • Our rates start at about $150 per hour; a standard 8-hour LED truck day is about $1,400.
  • The biggest price drivers are hours, market, event demand, truck format and the number of trucks.
  • LED trucks have no print cost. You upload JPEG or MP4 files instead of paying for vinyl banners.
  • Compare providers on cost per thousand visibility-adjusted impressions, not raw counts.
  • Send city, dates, hours, format and goal to get an accurate quote, usually the same day.

What drives the price of a mobile billboard

Seven factors set almost every quote. Knowing them helps you control the budget.

  1. Hours on the road. Billing is hourly or by the day. Eight hours is the standard day.
  2. Market. Dense metros like New York and Miami cost more to operate in than mid-size cities.
  3. Event demand. Game days, festivals, conventions and the final days before an election book first and price higher.
  4. Truck format. LED trucks show video and rotate creative. Static trucks carry one printed message.
  5. Number of trucks. Multi-truck blitzes multiply coverage and cost, though fleet bookings often get better per-truck pricing.
  6. Positioning. Campaigns far from a truck’s home base can add travel time.
  7. Creative and stationary needs. Static banners add printing. Parked activations may need property permission or a city permit.

Hourly vs. daily vs. multi-day pricing

  • Hourly works for a short burst: a lunch rush, a concert let-out or a grand-opening window.
  • Daily (8 hours) is the best value for most single events and launches.
  • Multi-day and monthly campaigns are quoted per project. Ask for multi-day pricing whenever you book more than one day.

How to calculate cost per thousand impressions (CPM)

CPM = campaign cost ÷ impressions × 1,000. It lets you compare a truck with radio, social ads or a fixed billboard.

Worked example (illustrative numbers): an 8-hour LED day costs $1,400. The route delivers 60,000 impressions.

$1,400 ÷ 60,000 × 1,000 = $23.33 CPM.

If 27,000 of those impressions are visibility-adjusted “eyes-on,” the cost per thousand eyes-on is $1,400 ÷ 27,000 × 1,000 = $51.85.

Two cautions:

  • Ask how impressions were counted. Very low CPM claims usually count every passing vehicle with no adjustment for whether anyone could see the screen.
  • Weigh relevance, not just price. A truck circling a stadium on game day reaches a concentrated audience. A cheaper highway impression may reach nobody you can sell to.

For a real tracked example, our 8-hour Cincinnati game-day activation on Sept. 13, 2026 delivered 69,669 impressions across 21 ZIP codes. We break down how numbers like that are measured in our guide to how many impressions a mobile billboard gets.

A fixed billboard usually wins on raw CPM. A truck wins on control: you pick the streets, the hours and the day. Out-of-home spending hit a record $9.46 billion in 2025, and digital formats made up 36.3% of it, according to the OAAA.

Send five details and you’ll usually get pricing the same day:

  1. City and target areas (venues, neighborhoods, a competitor’s location).
  2. Dates and hours.
  3. LED or static, or “not sure.”
  4. Your goal: event traffic, a launch, awareness, recruiting or votes.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a mobile billboard cost per hour?

Mobile Billboard Global campaigns start at about $150 per hour. In New York, rates run $150 to $200 per hour depending on timing and events.

How much does a mobile billboard truck cost per day?

A standard 8-hour day with one LED truck runs about $1,400 with Mobile Billboard Global. Published U.S. ranges run about $800 to $2,400 per day for static trucks and $1,200 to $3,600 per day for LED trucks.

How much does a month of mobile billboard advertising cost?

Monthly campaigns are quoted per project because hours per day, days per week and truck count vary. Ask for multi-day pricing; longer bookings usually lower the daily rate.

Is an LED truck more expensive than a static truck?

LED trucks usually carry a higher day rate, but they have no printing cost and can rotate several ads or change creative the same day. Static trucks cost less per day but add banner printing.

Do I pay extra for design?

Ask when you request a quote. Many clients send finished JPEG or MP4 files. If you need help, tell us your creative status so the quote reflects it.

Are there permit fees?

Moving campaigns rarely need a special permit. Parked or stationary activations may need property-owner permission or a city permit, depending on the location.
